3 Little Girls Dresses


The three dresses shown are part of the dresses that are stored in a trunk that contains 6 dresses with their hats, a little wool and fur bordered coat and hat, and a little girl dressed in her nightgown with slippers.

I have always loved boxes, and when a box contains a surprise, that’s even better. These little dresses would be fabulous in a shadow box display and I have also made them so they will fit a little 4 inch doll with the larger scale body.

You can, of course, modify these dresses to fit a thinner doll, but make a muslin first.

I hope you enjoy making these dresses. The sky’s the limit for this wardrobe, so be sure to check your scrap box and let you imagination soar.  

 

Green Dress

4 1/2" X 8" soft cotton fabric

1 yard of 12" lace edging

1 yard of 2mm silk ribbon or similar trim

Pink and green Bunka, or silk roses or designs to suit

(silk buds and bows is a great substitution)

Sailor Dress

4 1/2" X 8" soft cotton fabric

1-yard complementary trim or rickrack

2" X 2" white cotton for collar

1 yard of 2mm silk ribbon

1 yard of hat straw

6 or more red no hole beads or #14 seed beads for cherries

Silk ribbon or leaves punched for decoration

Flower Girl Dress

4 1/2" X 12" soft cotton or silk

6" of 2mm ribbon (match or contrast)

12" of 7mm ribbon

Eye pin

2" of florist’s wire

Embroidery floss for tassel

Hanger

28-gauge wire, needle nose pliers

3/4" dowel piece and 1/4" dowel piece
